Please Click here go to "STUDY CENTRE ADDRESS BOOK" to find the centre address in your region /state for the desired course. The NIOS serves its clients through a network of study centres all over the country. These provide individual support to its learners. These centres encourage the learning processes. The institutions which are desirous to be associated with the NIOS as its study centres are Sr. Secondary/Secondary, recognised/ affiliated schools and in exceptional cases, registered societies engaged in philanthropic work of high degree and well recognised societies are also given accreditation. |
These study centres are also known as Accredited Institutions (AIs) and perform the following functions:
The NIOS also offers Vocational Courses through Vocational Training Centres called Accredited Vocational Institutes (AVIs) which provide theoretical and practical training to students.
In addition to AIs and AVIs, the NIOS is in the process of accrediting institutions to cater to the needs of special learners. This category of Study Centres called Special Accredited Institutions for Education of the Disadvantaged (SAIED) will cater to a different and very important target group of children and adults with physical and sensory disabilities as well as the disadvantaged.
The enormous number of study centres, vastness of geographical area and the massive number of students make the stream lining and co-ordination a difficult and challenging task. Therefore ten Regional Centres have been established one each at Delhi, Calcutta, Pune, Hyderabad, Guwahati, Chandigarh, Kochi, Patna, Jaipur and Allahabad to effectively implement and monitor the functioning of the NIOS programmes in these regions.
NIOS Study Centres in the Middle East
As a first steptowards globalisation of its educational services, NIOS launched its study centres in the Middle East i.e. Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The aim is to extend educational facilities through the open learning system to non-resident Indians and other nationals settled there.
