It has been decided that the date of birth - once recorded in the admission records of NIOS on the basis of supporting documents, submitted at the time of admission, will not be changed except under following circumstances:

a) If there is a clerical mistake on the part of NIOS in recording of date of birth in admission record and from the admission form and the supporting documents submitted at the time of admission.
b) Request for change in Date of Birth in the admission records of NIOS shall be entertained only if the request is supported by any authenticated original document as specified in norms for admissions to the various Courses of NIOS. The request for change in Date of Birth will be acceded by the Competent Authority of NIOS only after his/her satisfaction based upon careful scrutiny and comparison of the original supporting documents furnished by the applicant at the time of admission with the new documents submitted by the applicants and the fact that the differences in Date of Birth arising due to these two sets of documents is explained and justified by the individual circumstances and the merit of the case.
